Sankofa Shield is not about chasing wealth or filling our own pockets—it’s about building a revenue stream that uplifts the village around us. Too many go without, and we refuse to let that continue. Our goal isn’t measured by financial success but by the lives we touch, the opportunities we create, and the future we shape.

Some might say this makes us bad business people, but if it makes us good people, then we are exactly where we need to be. We want to help every child we know attend camp, explore their passions, and access higher education. We want to invest in micro-businesses, strengthen our village, and empower people.

For us, money has never been the goal—it has always been a tool. We are committed to building a business that shares our values, that thinks beyond profit and focuses on impact. Some may see that as unconventional, but to us, it’s the only way forward.

This journey is one of faith—born from nothing but a deep desire to serve. What started as something we did for friends and family has now grown into a mission we embrace wholeheartedly. We were challenged to think bigger, and now we walk this road with purpose, ready to see how far we can go and how many lives we can change. Pray for us this is scary but scary has never stopped us before :-)

I did it for my Momma. If there’s one truth I’ve learned in life, it’s that you can never fault that logic.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been surrounded by young people—coaching, camp counselor, teaching, or mentoring. And I’ve seen firsthand that there is no wrong too great, no moment too dire, that won’t find forgiveness in the utterance of that phrase. A mother's honor is to be protected to death and beyond.  “What you say about Momma?”—has always been a call to arms, to hands, to action.

So when you ask why we started Sankofa Shield, my answer is simple—I did it for my Momma.

Norma Elanor Brown believed in the wisdom of nature. She taught us the value of healing beyond prescriptions, beyond trends—rooted in the earth itself. Milk thistle for the liver, charcoal when the stomach was off, bissee tea for strength. She lived by the power of natural remedies, passing that knowledge down like an heirloom.

Sankofa Shield is an extension of her legacy. It’s a promise to honor what she knew in the cures and traditions that nourished generations before us. It’s our way of protecting, preserving, and providing, just as she did.

But it’s more than just the past—it’s about the future. We believe in reclaiming the wisdom that was lost in the rush for convenience. We believe in standing firm against the tide of artificial solutions and quick fixes. We believe in reminding our communities that nature still holds the answers, just as it always has.

Sankofa Shield is a tribute. A shield. A calling. Because I did it for my Momma. And that is reason enough.
